The Great Rugby Bake Off - Sainsbury's Bake Off for Sport Relief 

Harlequins prop, Mark Lambert, challenged his fellow players to put their baking skills to the test to raise money for Sport Relief and The RPA Benevolent Fund – the Professional Players’ charity.

Harlequins Fly-Half Nick Evans puts the finishing touches to charity cupcakes for the RPA Benevolent Fund and Sport Relief at Sainsbury's.

Fresh from their Aviva Premiership Rugby Semi-Final, the Harlequins players went head-to-head in a baking challenge to bake the best Elizabeth Sponge cake and decorate and sell 1,000 cup cakes to make as much money for the charities as possible. Quins players Mark Lambert, Joe Marler, Olly Kohn, Will Skinner Matt Hooper, Rob Buchanan and Nick Evans competed against each other for the fist time this season to see who is crowned baking champion.

"We have a forwards baking club at Harlequins so I'm pretty confident one of us will come out as winner," said Mark Lambert. "On top of this, we'll raise money to make a real difference to Sport Relief and the RPA Benevolent Fund."

The players will be baking at the Sainsbury's Food Centre in centralLondonwhere their best efforts will be judged by Judith Batchelar, Director of Sainsbury's Brand and Silver Spoon Ambassador, Eric Lanlard who created the Elizabeth Sponge, before they see how many cakes they can sell to Sainsbury's colleagues.

Judith Batchelar added: "As Sport Relief's No1 partner, we're really excited to team up with Premiership Rugby, the RPA and the Harlequins players to help raise as much money as possible for great causes in theUKand abroad." "I'm also looking forward to see who the secret bakers are amongst the team and perhaps learn a thing or two."  You can view video footage of the event here....
